32 weeks

This is Lucy's 32nd week of life. Each week continues to get better and better. She is pretty much over her cold and slept 12 hours last night---THANK YOU LUCY!

The highlight of my day is when I pick her up out of her crib, either in the morning or from her naps. She is always singing or playing in the crib and flashes me a huge gummy smile, (she still has no teeth).

I pulled a fake flower decoration out of the bathroom to try and distract her away from the 32 week sign, and then thought for a second......oh no, flowers, am I going to scare her again............but we were okay, she had fun banging it against the floor. Whew....thought maybe I caused flashbacks to the tulips.

Hope everyone is having a lovely week. How many weeks are you?

She was terrified!

We had a very interesting day at the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. Thought we'd share a pleasant afternoon together as a family and get a few nice photos with the tulips. Little did we know that Lucy was scared for her life.

See below for how the day panned out.......

Lucy in the parking lot before we made it into the tulip fields.

Happy girl, unaware of what is lurking in the background......

Beautiful tulip fields to us.......FRIGHTENING to Lucy!

What the heck are these things? Her first time near the tulips.
She acted a bit hesitant, but we were busy smiling at the nice lady who offered
to take our picture.

Then I took Lucy into the field so Walt could capture a photo. As soon as I knelt down near the flowers, she screamed with terror. I thought maybe something happened, stung by a bee, pinched by something in the baby Bjorn??

Take two in the pink field......nope, screaming again!

I tried to show her the flowers were okay, I touched them, smelled them,
and the screaming only got louder. We quickly walked away from the
flowers and she began to calm down.

Lucy back in the parking lot safe and sound.
It took at least 10 minutes to calm her down.

We packed up and headed far away from tulip land, maybe next year......
We thought the first time at the zoo may be a little scary, never did we think
fields of flowers would give her nightmares.....all part of the learning experience.

A Seattle Excursion

Pike Place Market

Mom don't tip us over!

My new hair bow, maybe now people will quit asking if
I am a boy or girl.

Riding the Ferry from Bremerton to Seattle

My new sunglasses

Something smells fishy

Dad, did you put wheels on my bathtub?

For the past seven months Lucy has been bugging us to show her some of our favorite things to do in Seattle. We obliged and took her on a ferry ride, to the Pike Place Market, and for a little wine tasting, (for mom and dad of course) Lucy had a 2008 un-bottled Sauvignon Boob.

Lucy tried out her new shades, which lasted all of 20 seconds before she pulled them off, and a new hair bow.

Walt gave her a ride in our utility wagon, (previously used for mulching). She was a little confused by this whole experience so I jumped in with her for a spin around the block.

Stayed tuned, tomorrow we'll take her 32 week photos. If we can keep her still long enough......

I told you I hate this outfit!!

I think Lucy had just about enough at the time we were posing all the kids for this shot.

She was trying to show off her new crawling skills by moving away from the other kids when I picked her up and plopped her back down to get the photo---she let everyone in the city of Bellevue know she was MAD!

I think this is such a funny picture as all the other kids are peaceful and mellow while Lucy is screaming at the top of her lungs. I continued to snap pictures and laugh. I'm sure all the other moms at the park were staring and whispering about the screaming baby in pink.

To her credit, today was jam packed. We started off with swimming, and then off to a play date in the park. She squeezed in a little nap in the stroller while I took a stroll around the park, but soon after she was up and about with her friends playing. Now that she can crawl she moves her way around to check out each of the other babies' toys and take whatever she pleases. The yellow plastic duck toy she is holding in the photo is the little boy's to her left. Right after a big tug.....ugh... it was all hers.

Lucy went under water today for the first time during swim lessons!! She did wonderfully, all four times, always with a big smile upon surfacing.

Poor little girl has been struggling with a cold all week so I was proud of her, but as the photo shows, it was time to go home and take a nice long nap.

31 weeks

31 weeks, check her out.
Can't believe she is moving about.

Decided to crawl, now pulling herself up.
Now I have to watch where I put my tea cup.

Lucy gave us a few smiles though she's not feeling well.
But from the look on her face you really can't tell.

She is on the move!!

Lucy turned seven months on Thursday. Guess she felt it it was time to really start exploring. She has been getting up on all fours, rocking forward, scooting backwards, and now she finally got all limbs moving in the right direction!

We have to put something tempting in front of her to get her really moving (i.e. my cell phone) but I think she has the hang of it.

Let the baby proofing begin!!

Splash splash

Lucy and I do waterbabies every Friday afternoon. She LOVES being in the water and watching all the other babies. The first few classes Lucy tried to lap up all the water from the pool like a puppy dog, but I think she has realized that it isn't for drinking. We sing songs, play games and next week Lucy is going under water!! I am going to try and capture it with my under water camera.
Like my mohawk?

I had one of the other moms take a few photos for me, we should have a few more soon. Hopefully Walt can join us at one of the classes and take a video.

Lucy loves to hear 'Wheels on the Bus' which we sing each class. She smiles and laughs and looks as if she is thinking "hey, this is my favorite song, and everyone is singing to ME."

Watch me swing--wee!

Day at the park

Today was very sunny in Seattle so Lucy and I decided to visit the park with my friend Melanie and her son Milo. Lucy and Milo played in the grass and Lucy had her first try on the swing set. She laughed and smiled so big, we can't wait to go back. I think I wore her out, she took a nice long nap afterwards.

Mom, can you leave us alone for a minute?

They were having a moment in the park, I think it is true love.

Mom or Dad??

What do you get when you add

Walt + Adrienne =Lucy

I think she looks just like her daddy, how cute!

I am 30 weeks!!

Every week we take Lucy's picture in her diaper so we can look back and watch her grow.

We started with her first week and I can't believe we are now at 30 weeks!!
It is getting more and more challenging as the weeks go by, but we are hopeful to make it to 52. I am working on putting together a slide show for the blog of the previous 29 weeks.

Lucy is very interested in the piece of paper we use to label the week. It is difficult to distract her from grabbing the paper and look at the camera. I'm sure once she is mobile this is going to get really fun. I can just imagine myself chasing her around the house holding the weekly label trying to capture the perfect shot--what were we thinking???

These were some of my favorites from this week's photo shoot.

Aww Baby

Lucy loves playing with this baby doll, especially when Walt "brings her to life" with a sweet little voice that speaks to Lucy. She is not quite sure what to think when the baby speaks to her, but when the baby is quiet Lucy holds her and gives her kisses. She also pulls out the doll's passie and gives it a try. It is merely a small, hard, plastic knob to fit inside the doll's mouth, so Lucy spits it out immediately!

My daddy is funny!

Walt has a special way about making Lucy crack up. They were sharing some play time and Lucy found it very funny. I love hearing babies laugh, even if you are having a bad day, how can it not make you smile? Click play to hear Lucy's laughter.

Mom, all my friends are doing it.........

This is what I can imagine Lucy saying to me if she could talk.
She would like me to create a blog for her so her family can stay "in the know" about her exciting new life! And, yes, all her friends are doing it!! She watches me daily as I read all the blogs for all my friends and their babies, what a highlight. She tries so hard to touch the keys and screen on the computer.

I know, I know, Lucy is pushing 7 months already, but hey, better late then never, right? We will continue to take Lucy's weekly pictures and post them to the blog rather than sending them out via Kodak each week. That way if you choose to check in on Lucy, (and sometimes Walt and my) lives, feel free.

Now I won't feel bad about filling everyone's in-boxes with photos. This is also a great way for me to keep an electronic baby book. For me, it is more fun to do this versus sitting down and jotting down milestones in her baby book.......so 20Th century :). I hope you all enjoy and check back often.
