Learning to Play Together

Other parents told us it would happen. "They will be so close." "They will play together all the time."
I wasn't sure it was ever going to happen.

It did. Successfully. On two separate occasions.
It is about time. Thank goodness!

February Fun

Someone is excited to hit the slopes

And someone else......not so much!We checked out a place called Kidz Bounce during one of our Thursday playdates. It was a hour and a half of crazy bouncing and sliding! The kids had a ball and we will definitely make a return visit, as it ensured great afternoon naps. At least two days after going, Lucy would wake up in the morning asking to go to the bouncy house.

Lucy after coming down the slide, as she says, "all by myself."
Mommy and Quinn on the slide. I had just as much fun as the kids. Why don't they have places like this for adults?

The little ones hanging out while the big kids played.

Lucy bouncing 'til her heart's content.

Greyson, Molly, and Lucy have a thing for tackling each other. Typically at the park or at some one's house, on the hard wood floors....ouch! Lucky for them, at the bouncy house, no one is injured and they crack up laughing while having so much fun!

Switching gears.......

Last week Lucy and Quinn decided to check some milestones off the list. Lucy used the potty and Quinn fed himself. What happened to my babies?

Until next time..........

Quinn's First Birthday

No, I am not confused on the purpose of a hair dryer. Just softening up the icing so Quinn could really get his hands dirty and play around. A little tip from the cake lady.

The top of the big cake came off so he could have his own little smash cake.

And smash is what he did!

I thought doing a pinata for the big kids would be fun. It was the easy kind, (or so I thought), where you just pull attached strings from the bottom and one should open the magic door releasing the goods. This one didn't work so well and I had to puncture a hole in the bottom. Nonetheless, the kids enjoyed the special treats inside and we didn't have any injuries from swinging a stick around to break the pinata.

Blog

Mom, this is what I think about your recent blogging performance.

Quinn's "mad face" on demand.

Music and first movie

Just a few pictures and quick update. Lucy started a new session of Kindermusic and we took Quinn along since our nanny was sick. Lucy loved showing off her little brother to the class, although Quinn felt like he was part of the gang as he started his own classes (different day), last week.
Lucy spinning in her Bilibo seat during class.

Dancing with her friend Maddy. Quinn before class started, looking a little sleepy.

The kids getting ready for Ms. Rebecca's story time. Notice Q in the red shirt trying to get a spot on the blanket. Lucy is such the teacher's pet. During quiet time, she wanted Ms. Rebecka to hold her.
Switching gears.....

Lucy and I had a little mother/daughter movie date. I wasn't sure how she'd respond to a big movie theater, but we gave it a try and she did very well. We went to see Disney's 'The Princess and the Frog' and she really had fun. During the last 15 mins of the show, she stood up in the isle to watch and, sometimes during the movie she would ask questions in a somewhat loud voice, but overall she did great.
Getting ready to go in the theater........not really sure what was going on.
Watching the movie. I had to help hold the bottom part of the seat down because she didn't weigh enough to keep it down and it would fold up. Later she decided my lap was more comfortable.

p.s. the picture quality is a bit lacking as I used our old camera, wasn't toting the big camera around during these adventures.

Christmas Season 2009

The holidays are over, the decor is put away, (almost), so I'd like to take a minute to capture the things that made this year special. Children bring so much joy and extra love to an already magical time of year. I am blessed to have the best little "gifts"and look forward to our many years ahead making holiday memories they will cherish........hopefully.

To kick of the spirit of things. Walt and Lucy attended the 'father and child' night at her preschool for a night of pizza and gingerbread house making. She was allowed to have one piece of candy a day, until she forgot about it and we threw it away.

Lucy and I made Christmas cookies for the first time. I think she had fun for about the first 20 minutes. Walt and I finished them up and they served as a good breakfast staple for about a week.

She came around again to taste test the finished product.
We went to a lovely Christmas service with our dear friends the Tams. After church we headed to Snowflake Lane in downtown Bellevue to hear festive music, watch drummer boys on stilts, and see fake snow falling from the buildings. Lucy was pretty into this year especially since she got a "treat" from a cute drummer boy. Santa's deliveries.

Checking out the new train table. Nothing better than little ones in matching jammies on Christmas morning.

Lucy's new wheels. Her favorite gift this year. She likes to tote around her books and babies while driving and talking on her cell phone.

My parents and Michael arrived Christmas day so we had a big dinner to celebrate. I used our china and crystal for the first time. I love having a reason to go "all out." It felt so nice having so many people in the house and around the table. My first attempt at a roasted pork loin, Frenched and crowned.
We headed to the park the day after Christmas. The weather was nice and Lucy got to practice on her first bike she received from Grandma and Papa.

Quinn laughed and played on the swings while Lucy did laps on her bike.

We got together with our buddies where the kids received the coolest superhero capes. Thanks Jamie--GREAT idea.

A couple days after Christmas we headed across the mountains to Leavenworth, WA. Leavenworth is a cute little Bavarian town that is fun to visit especially during Christmas. The town is cozy with lights and music and plenty of little shops and cafes. We went wine tasting, snow mobiling. and sled riding along with some shopping and plenty of yummy food.
Lucy and Quinn stayed bundled in their snow gear. They were little troopers during the whole trip.
And now that the holidays have come to an end, I think it is time to catch up on some necessary rest. We are all exhausted...........
