Happy Birthday Mommy

Today is Mommy's birthday.
For mommy's birthday, a trip was in order, and I had to stay home to watch grandma Jitty and Q. Here is mommy's ride.

Daddy and mommy went to the San Juan Islands to find a whale. They took this restored DHC-1965 sea Beaver from Lake Union, which is just north of Seattle. The last plane of this type was built in 1967, but is considered the most durable bush plane in the world. This is where they stayed, Friday Harbor, on San Juan Island. In the rain shadow of the Olympic Mountains, aka the 'banana belt', mommy and daddy had sun all weekend while back in Seattle our weather was a cool 55 degrees. Mommy enjoyed the Viognier and Pinot, while daddy ran around babbling about the different climate patterns.

Mommy taking in the eagles.

Looking out over Roche Harbor, where mommy grabbed the kayaks. Maybe we can sell our house and live on a boat.

Hotel de Haro, in Roche Harbor. Great picture Mr Photographer. By the way, where's daddy?

Keep paddling mommy!
This eagle is one of many that we saw from our boat.

This is a trip on the same kayak trip when the whales were breeching.

Happy birthday mommy, we were glad you came home.

Strawbabies

Both Lu and Q call them the same things "Strawbabies" - although Q sounds more like "blah-blahblahs". Q knows that these fruits are the largest selling US-produced fruit in the US. Now $2 billion. Growing almost 10-20% per year since 2000.
The closest fruits, in terms of sales, are oranges ($688 million), grapes ($582 million), and cherries ($466 million). from USDA data
First daddy takes of the stem...
And Q does the rest. These are much more managable daddy, and they taste better.
Nice job Lucy. Thanks for showing us the cache grandma Carol.

Pacific Northwest Summer

Today I decided to feed the Gravity Monster. What does this have to do with parenting? Well, quite the inverse of parenting - the antiparenting adventures available when one's wonderful wife assumes all responsibilities for a few days. (with assistance from papa Mike and Jitty).Carrying my transportation into the sky. My only goal is not to break myself in half.
1 Mile above Sea Level, looking over at Mt Rainier in the distance. Those were well earned vertical that's for sure.
The chair is not running today. Nice view, eh? ahh, Skiing for the eighth month in a row.
Thanks Adrienne, come home soon.

Braden Turns 1

Happy Birthday Mr Braden.Q, I can't believe Braden is getting so old. In fact, I don't think I've had a haircut since he was born!

What a happy family.
This was taken from the Parenting Magazine photoshoot, our famous friend Nicole and Ms. Simone. We hope this makes the cover. You go girl.
Picture from photoday for Parenting Magazine.
I need to take this thing off of my head. maybe I'll play with the blog background picture, hahahaha

how quickly we forget

Q is now Lucy's age when we brought Q home. For parents who see their little tikes morphing into the CEOs of the house, these images are enough to make us melt.

Snapper

click to enlarge (look at the eye)

"Daddy, he wants to eat your hand."I think Lucy is right.

This snapping turtle, found sunning outside Papa Mike's house, has a tail that looked like snake. He snapped this apple in half 1/2 second after daddy's silly audition to be on the show Jacka$$.
check back later for a pic of his fangs

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
