Happy Birthday Grandpa Rick. You are an extraordinary man, and the above painting illustrates how so many people see you: a life dedicated to healing the sick. This famous 1891 painting depicts Sir Luke Fildes's (the painter) admiration for the doctor of his mortally sick young daughter. It is aptly named 'The Doctor'. Sir Fildes is in the darkened background, in agonizing fear.
I am sure you have seen this before. It could have been painted of my father, Rick, as I have seen him in this posture many times. Today is his birthday.
Happy Birthday Dad, Happy Birthday Grandpa.
Lucy and Quinn are growing up fast and expect many years of stories and ice cream.
